Genre: Architectural Photography
Showing base of south minaret, with the windows on the south-east face in the background. India Museum no. 1471. Received from Captain Lyon 7 February 1871. Duplicate print at Photo 1001 (3228).
Lyon supplies the following description in his 'Notes to accompany a series of photographs designed to illustrate the ancient architecture of Western India. Taken for Government and described by Captain Lyon' (Geneva, 1871):
580 and 581. - Show other portions of the same mosque in detail. The two small windows one on each side of the small door are very beautiful specimens of Hindoo carving and the small window of perforated stone to the right of No. 581 is a perfect little gem. The .scroll pattern immediately beneath it is almost an exact imitation of that to be found at Bailoor see Photographs 460, &c., &c.
