Lyon supplies the following description in his 'Notes to accompany a series of photographs designed to illustrate the ancient architecture of Western India. Taken for Government and described by Captain Lyon' (Geneva, 1871):
584. - At a short distance from the Kootub-ud-deen mosque, stands the Mohofiz Khan as here shown. It differs in architecture from the two last and has the great advantage of having its minarets still intact. The entrance is mean and the Court paved with sandstone is full of tombs all fast going to decay. The minarets alone make this mosque presentable, the beauty of which relieved by galleries, and the great richness in the brackets supporting them, must strike every beholder. Mohafiz Khan was a viceroy of Ahmedabad, and built this mosque in 1471, its dimensions are very small being only 51 ft long by 36 broad.
