596. - On entering the enclosure through the gate shown in No. 595 a view of this temple is obtained; it was built very lately and dedicated by his followers to the saint whom they reverence. The architecture is Jain and if the rubbish was only cleared away from around it and the court kept in tolerable order, the coup d'oeil of the temple would be a very pleasing one. The Swamee Narayan was born at Lucknow in Oude in 1780 and at an early age devoted himself to the reform of the Hindoo religion in the same manner as more than 2,000 years ago Sakya Muni had done, when he founded the Buddhist creed, but it is scarcely necessary to add that at present there does not seem much chance that the followers of Narayan will ever rival in numbers those of Sakya Muni.
