Genre: Architectural Photography

610. - At a distance of about 5 miles from Ahmedabad are the ruins of what must once have been the magnificent cemetery of Sirkej. To the East are two pillars thirty ft high which may once have marked its entrance.
The river Sabarmati formerly flowed at their foot, but has changed its course nearly two miles to the East. To the right of the entrance is a domed edifice called the Gumbaz of Ganj Bakhsh who was the spiritual adviser of Ahmed Shah; he died A.D. 1445 and his tomb here represented was begun by Mahomed Shah the son, and completed by Kutbud-deen, the grandson of Ahmed. Another building on the left of the entrance is the mausoleum of Mahmood Begurra and his Queen Beebee Rajbaee.
