Macao was visited by the compiler of this album between 1st and 3rd March, 1879. Three-part panorama of Macao.
With contemporary printed descriptive label: 'Macao. No.382.- Panorama of Macao. The view was taken from the Penha Hills- on the extreme right are the Garrison Quarters and St. Francis Fort-on the Hill next to it is the Guia Fort and Light House, erected by Governor Amaral - the circular part facing the water is known as the Praya Grande - the enclosure in front of picture is a Garden and was formerly called Bom Jesus' Hill, near to the centre of picture on the Hill is the Monte Fort, it is the principal one in Macao, commanding the entire entrance - at the foot of the Hills is the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral, which was destroyed by Fire in the year 1835, there is only the front of the building left standing - the narrow piece of Land or Peninsula joins the Chinese part of Macao to the Portuguese - in the centre of the Inner Harbor is Green Island - at the extreme left are Chuck-sing-toong Mountains.'
