Head-on view of the facade of Casa Guidi, from Via Ricasoli, with a lengthy note in Hall Griffin's hand: 'This shows the entrance on the Via Maggio. Browning's rooms — a flat of 9 rooms, one of two on that floor — was on the first floor, just over the tablet. None of his windows however are here seen. The house is on two streets and all Browning's windows but one face on the other street...' The plaque above the entrance is a memorial to Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who died here in 1861.
