The sketch map shows the progress of railway construction in China in 1908. It is marked with open railways and those proposed and under construction, and includes southern Siberia, and Mongolia. It is used to accompany a summary of principal events in 1908 by Wilfrid Malleson, Assistant Quartermaster-General, Intelligence Branch, Division of the Chief of Staff, Simla.
