- The journey proceeded from Bhamo (Burma), eastwards to Yunnanfu (雲南府), then north to Suifu, Szechwan (敘府, 四川) where the journey was paused. At this point Pereira travelled by boat to Hong Kong, where he rested before leaving for Hainan (海南). He recommenced the original journey at Yunnanfu, arriving by railway from Hanoi (Tonkin). The route then continued north-westwards by way of A-Tun-Tzu, Yunnan (阿墩子, 雲南) to Kanze, Szechwan (甘孜, 四川), where the jouney was terminated by Pereira's failing health and his consequent death.
