Papers relating to the production of Benjamin Britten's opera 'Peter Grimes', including critiques of early performances across Europe; lists of the names and addresses of those invited to the premiere at Sadler's Wells on 7 June 1945, along with correspondence regarding the translation of the libretto into German; a copy of the licence for the opera to be performed exclusively at Sadler's Wells for two years from the date of the first performance; a request from George R. Foa to translate the opera into Italian (25 July 1945) and details of royalties to be paid for performances and broadcasts.
