- This volume contains letters sent to and from the East India Company Factory at Bussorah [Basra] between 29 October 1745 and 6 November 1752. It includes material relating to:
- The revolts at Tabreiz [Tabriz], Errivan [Yerevan] and Carrmancha [Kermanshah]
- The revolt at Sistoon [Sistan] and the apparent defection of a large branch of Nadir Shaw’s [Nadir Shah’s] family
- The murder of the Kalantar of Julpha [Julfa] by Nadir Shaw and his extortions from the Armenians
- The capture of the East India Company ship Augusta by the Angria fleet in Cochin [Kochi] Road
- The preparation of a peace embassy from Shaw Nadir [Nadir Shah] to the Porte with ‘more than usual magnificence’
- The capture of the President of Madras, Nicholas Morse, by Governor-General Joseph François Dupleix, in contravention of the treaty signed by [Governor] Bourdinau [Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais]
- The assassination of Nadir Shaw, allegedly by his grandson, Sharoc Mirza [Shahrukh Mirza Afshar]
- The rumoured succession of Allee Coolie Caun [i.e. ‘Ali Quli Khan Afshar, later ‘Adil Shah Afshar]
- The death of the second Mamluk Governor of Bagdat [Baghdad], Ahmet Basha [Gürcü Ahmed Pasha]
- The appointment of Hodjee Ahmet Basha [Haji Ahmad Pasha] to the governorship of Bussorah
- The decision of the new King of Persia, Audel Shaw [‘Adil Shah Afshar] to relocate to Spahaun [Isfahan]
- The proclamation of a new king of Aghwans [Afghans], Mirveis [Mirways], in Corasson [Khurasan]
- The takeover, by Solyman Kia [Sulayman Kiya], son-in-law of Ahmet Basha, of the city of Bussorah
- The seizure of the government of Bussorah and Bagdat by Solyman Basha [Sulayman Abu Layla Pasha]
- The dethronement of Sharock Shaw [Shahrukh Shah Afshar] by his own supporters, and his replacement with Solyman Doud [i.e. Sayyid Muhammad Mirza Mar’ashi Safavi, later Shah Sulayman II]
- The defeat and death of Nasir Chung [Mir Ahmad ‘Ali Khan Siddiqi Nasir Jang] by the French
- The arrival of a firman from the Porte, confirming Soliman Bashaw’s government of Bagdat and Bussorah.
