- This volume contains letters sent to and from the East India Company Factory at Bussorah [Basra] between 25 September 1726 and 25 August 1731. It includes material relating to:
- A proposal that English vessels stop visiting the port of Bussorah, and that a vessel should instead cruise between Ormus [Hormuz] and Cape Mussledoon [Cape Musandam], to prevent any ‘Moors Vessells’ from entering the Gulf
- A petition from a Persian woman, captured by the crew of the Victoria, to the Pasha of Bussorah
- The Pasha’s demand either for the release of the Persian woman or for the head of Captain Forbes
- The remonstrance of William Phipps, President of Bombay, with Abde Rahman Basha ['Abd al-Rahman Pasha] of Bussorah
- The expulsion of the Dutch East India Company by the Nawab of Bengal, Shuja’ al-Din Muhammad Khan Nasiri, from Hughly [Hooghly], following the capture of a vessel belonging to the Ostend Company
- The wresting of Mombase [Mombasa] from the Portuguese by the ‘Muscat Arabs’, and of Portuguese territories between Basseen [Vasai] and Damaun [Daman] by the Sou Rajah [Shahu Rajah]
- The victory of Shaw Thomas’s [Shah Tahmasb II's] General against Hoshroff [Sultan Ashraf Ghilza'i, also referred to as Ashroph and Ashroff Sultan] and the fall of Spahaun [Isfahan]
- The victory of Thomas Cooly Caun [Tahmasb Quli Khan] over the Ophgoons [Afghans] at Shyrash [Shiraz]
- The victories of the Persians against the Ottomans at Hamadan and Kirmanshaw [Kermanshah]
- The killing of Ashroff Sultan by Hossein Caun [Husayn Khan Ghilza’i] at Candahar [Qandahar]
- The papers relating to the Chief Agent, Isaac Houssaye’s management of Company’s affairs at Bussorah
- An engagement between the Maratha Navy and the Bengal Galley, the Bombay, and the Victoria
- The confirmation of all the ‘Rogoms’ [i.e. trading privileges] received from the kings of Persia
- The wresting of Kirmanshaw by the Ottomans from the Persians, and the Turkish march on Hamadan
- A Rogom from Shaw Tomasb [Shah Tahmasb II] to the Company for the collection of customs at Gombroon [Bandar ‘Abbas].
