Part 1 of the royal ordinances

Portion of royal ordinances on both sides of a papyrus roll. The recto preserves ordinances concerning cleruchs (military settlers), with a personnel section listing infantry, cavalry and administrative officers of three Egyptian districts in positions; each name is accompanied by a statement of army rank; further sections on cleruchs follow. The following ordinance concerns measures on transport routes and waterways. The back deals with jurisdictional procedures about financial matters and court disputes.

Dimensions: Fragments of varying size; lower left fragment: 166 x 150 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 375 x 400 mm.
Script: Recto: Large and squarish business capital, bold and well-formed, with some variations in size and in the use of the pen; punctuation by paragraphus and space. Verso: different hand, practised, rather flat angular cursive, using a fine point.
