- Folio 3 from an 'Album of 51 drawings (57 folios) of buildings, sculpture and paintings in the temple and choultry of Tirumala Nayyak at Madura, c.1801-05'. Inscribed in ink: 'Figures of the Hindoo Mythology taken from the Pagoda and Choultries of Madura'. Each picture is inscribed with a title and number in ink. They were created by an anonymous artist working in the South India/Madurai style, c. 1801-1805 and are mainly details from the elaborately carved columns that dot the Minakshi Sundareshvara Temple complex in Madurai. The complex was built in the 17th century under the patronage of one of the most powerful Nayaka rulers, Tirumala (ruled 1623-59).
