This part of the volume consists of copies of enclosures to a secret despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department to the Secret Committee, Number 52 of 1856, dated 22 October 1856. The enclosures are numbered 3-11 and are dated 16 September to 18 October 1856.
They consist of correspondence and a minute by the Governor-General of India, Charles Canning, concurred in by the members of the Council, relating to the transport of arms and ammunition and the remittance of five lakhs of rupees to the Ameer of Cabool [Amīr of Kabul, also spelled Cabul in this item], Dost Mahomed Khan [Dūst Muḥammad Khān Bārakzāy].
The correspondents are: the Secretary to the Government of India; the Secretary to the Government of Bombay; and the Officiating Secretary to the Chief Commissioner of the Punjab.
