- Scope & Content:
- Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 6 of 1868, dated 30 June 1868, including an abstract and an enclosure numbered 3, dated 11 May 1868.
The enclosure comprises a letter from Sir Charles Alison, HM Minister in Teheran [Tehran] to Lord Stanley, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, describing his meeting with the Ameen-ed-dowlah [Amīn al Dawlah, also spelled Emin in this item], Ferrookh Khan [Fārūq Khān, also spelled Ferukh in this item], in which the latter conveyed the Shah’s wish to purchase ships and equipment for service in the Persian Gulf and for the ‘moral interposition’ of Britain to prevent any ‘unlawful aggression’ by Muscat against Persian [Iranian] territory. Included is a translation of a note from the Shah to the Ameen-ed-dowlah expressing those wishes (f 365).
