Political Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 110 of 1873, dated 7 July 1873, containing enclosures dated from December 1872 to 11 June 1873.
The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence and reports concerning political affairs in Bahrein [Bahrain] and Nejd [Najd], in particular Ottoman Turkish operations and relations in Nejd and the claims of Ahmed bin Nassir bin Abdullah [Aḥmad bin Nāṣir bin ‘Abdullāh Āl Khalīfah] to properties in Bahrein that belonged to his uncle, Mahomed bin Abdullah [Muḥammad bin ‘Abdullāh Āl Khalīfah], currently imprisoned by the British in India for political reasons.
Principal correspondents include: Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Charles Ross, Acting Political Resident in the Persian Gulf; Captain Charles Grant, Assistant Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bahrein; and Saood bin Feysul [Sa‘ūd bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd], Ruler of Nejd.
A manuscript note by the Political Department, Secret Branch, dated 18 August 1873, stating that the papers are to be filed for record is found on folio 436.
The despatch was received by the India Office Secret Department on 16 August 1873.
