- The map shows a section of the Shatt al-Arab at Muhammareh [Khorramshahr], the site of the disputed border between Persia [Iran] and the Ottoman Empire. A red line indicates the frontier as decided upon by a Mediating Commission in 1851, while a black dotted and dashed line indicates the boundary as it was ‘locally agreed on’ at the time. The map also depicts buildings, roads, and telegraph lines. It bears the printing statement ‘Harrison and Sons.’
