Tax Receipt (P.Lond. V 1666, TM 19686)
Scope & Content:
Receipt acknowledging the payment of 12 carats and 3/4 made by Apollos, son of Dioscorus, on account of village taxes for the village of Phthla and for certain monks, issued by the pagarchs through their assistant Matoi. Dated to 514-515, 529-530, 544-545, or 559-560.

Papyrus slip, imperfect on the right and with surface damage throughout; written on one side, the back being blank. The front bears 5 lines running across the fibres, damaged at the end; upper, left and lower margins are minimal. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Receipt from the church of the village of Euphrosynos through the assistant Matoi acknowledging the payment of 12 artabas of wheat made by Menas, son of Phoebammon, for three indictions.

Papyrus slip, dark-brown, complete but damaged by holes and abrasion, and somewhat torn at the top; written on one side across the fibres, the back being blank. There are 4 lines and traces of another line at the bottom. The left margin measures 15-25 mm; no margin was left to the right. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Receipt from the pagarchs through the assistant Matoi acknowledging the payment for rent made by Iacob, son of Victor, for a plot of land he is leasing.

Papyrus slip, complete but damaged by insect holes; written on one side across the fibres, the back being blank. There are 6 lines, damaged in places; all margins are extant and measure 10-15 mm. A trace of ink is visible in the lower margin, at c. 70 mm from the left edge. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.
