Papers of Ghyslaine Durrell: Letters Received from Lawrence Durrell

Various letters, cards and postcards, from Lawrence Durrell to his fourth wife, Ghyslaine Durrell (née de Boysson). Much of the material is written in French, or written in a combination of French and English. Several photographs are included.
Almost all of the written material is from Lawrence Durrell, with two notable exceptions: a letter from Jolan Chang to Lawrence Durrell (in Add MS 88972/5), and an unsigned and undated autograph text (written by Ghyslaine Durrell?) in Add MS 88972/8.
A note on dating. Many of the items in the collection have been retrospectively dated in a distinctive hand, often with a blue felt pen. A colour photograph of Durrell from 1975 (in Add MS 88972/4) has been annotated on the verso 'Self 1975' in the same hand, indicating that such dating where it occurs was done by Lawrence Durrell and not by Ghyslaine Durrell.
