Correspondents are Cardinal Nepote Francesco Barberini, Secretary of State of Pope Urban VIII, and Cardinal Marzio Ginetti, peace legate at Cologne (June 1636 - Oct. 1640). Dispatches to Baglioni from Cardinal Barberini are preceded (art. 1, ff. 1-7) by dispatches to the previous nuncio Cardinal Ciriaco Rocci, Bishop of Patras (nuncio to the emperor 18 May 1630 - 8 Sept. 1634). Other recipients include Cardinal Antonio Barberini, brother of the Pope and called Cardinal of St. Onofrio, Prince Taddeo Barberini, Prefect of Rome, Francesco Paolucci de' Calboli, Giulio Mazarin, the Elector of Bavaria Maximilian I, and the papal nuncios Lorenzo Campeggi at Madrid, Giorgio Bolognetti at Paris, Richard Paul Stravius to Flanders, Onorato Visconti to Poland, Francesco Vitelli at Venice, Martino Alfieri at Cologne, and Ranuccio Scotti to Switzerland.
