Correspondence and papers of John Cam Hobhouse, 2nd Bart. (1831), Baron Broughton de Gyfford (1851), the friend and collaborator of Lord Byron; 1774-1867. From 1823 to 1829 he was a member of the Greek Committee. He was M.P. for Westminster (1819-1834), Nottingham (1834- 1848), and Harwich (1848-1851), Secretary at War (1832-1833), Chief Secretary for Ireland (1833-1834), Commissioner of Woods and Forests (1834-1835), and President of the Board of Control (1835-1841 and 1846-1852). Twenty-nine volumes. The collection was bequeathed to the Museum by Lord Broughton on his death in 1869, but in accordance with the terms of his Will it remained sealed up until 1900.
