Title:

Compendium of mathematical, philosophical and historical texts

Scope & Content:

Collection of twenty treatises (plus shorter notes and excerpts) relating to mathematics, philosophy, history and related subjects, including a number of Graeco-Arabic texts.

The manuscript was copied in Dhū al-Qa‘dah 639/May 1242 at least in part from an exemplar that was copied in 'the west side of the city of al-Mahdīyah (بناحية المغرب بمدينة المهدية)', the capital of Fatimid (Zirid) Ifriqīyah (modern Tunisia), on 11 Rabī‘ I 531/7 December 1136 (see colophons of items sixteen, f. 172v, lines 11-16; and item eighteen f. 178r, lines 3-4).
