A collection of 28 diaries and 5 folders of papers kept by members of the Raban family, and their extended family, from 1803-1962. The collection comprises:
- 4 diaries kept by Colonel William Raban (1765-1843) covering his leave in England 1803-1804 and 1815-1816; 1 folder of copies of correspondence to and from Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles during Colonel Raban's time as Resident at Cheribon, Java, 1812;
- 5 diaries kept by Lydia King Raban, late Baker (1821-1862) covering her voyage out to India and residency there 1840-1845;
- Diary kept by Lieutenant William Raban (1792-1864) of his service in Ireland, Jamaica and India with HM's 22nd Foot.
- 4 pages of a diary kept by Jessie Raban (1823-1891), , 1850;

Also included in the reverse of the third diary of Lydia King Baker is a 'Memoir of a voyage to the West Indies 1817-18' which was kept Lydia's father John Baker (1789-1852) who sailed to the America's and served with the 2nd Venezualan Hussars in their rebellion against the Spanish.
