Ruling: Misṭarah; writing does not conform to the ruling; lines per page varies from 28 to 32; vertical spacing 19 lines per 10 cm (ff. 1v-3r); 25 lines per page; vertical spacing 15 lines per 10cm (ff. 3v-393v);
Script: Naskh; the scribe is Sulaymān ibn ʿAbd Allāh (سليمان بن عبد الله, see f. 393v, line 15)
Ink: Commentary text in black ink, with rubricated headings and overlinings in red; versified text in red ink; black ink only on ff. 1v-3r
Decoration: See text two, Fatḥ al-ḥayy al-qayyūm sharḥ rawḍat al-fuhūm (فتح الحيّ القيوم شرح روضة الفهوم; ff. 3v-393v) for note on page marker threads
Binding: Maroon leather binding with blind-tooled central medallion and pendants above and below, within a double frame, with flap.
Condition: Good; some water staining and visible transferred marks from envelope flap
Marginalia: Occasional marginal annotations and corrections throughout; lists of contents (ff. 1r and 3r); a number of annotations on the second text in this volume appear to be written by the copyist of the first text.
Seals: British Museum stamp (ff. 1v and 398v)
