- Part of the estate of John Brealey deceased, comprising properties at Charles Street and Gardeners Lane Westminster, Stoke Newington, Primrose Street Bishopsgate, Crown Street Finsbury, and Beech Lane Barbican, was sold at auction 10 August 1864 by the London Life Association, King William Street London, as mortgagees of John Brealey. Matthew Digby Wyatt, Clerk of the Works to the India Office, purchased several lots in Charles Street and Gardeners Lane for a total of £13,340: namely 31, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, and 47 Charles Street; 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 18 Gardeners Lane; and 1 and 2 Baker's Alley [see L/SUR/6/2 f.68].
