Diplomatic correspondence of Charles I, with related papers; 1614-1641, n.d. Partly autograph, with copies and drafts. Partly Latin, French, Italian, Spanish and German. The material, which largely consists of royal correspondence with foreign rulers and states, includes commissions and instructions to English diplomatic representatives abroad, along with letters of credence, passports and safe-conducts. Some of the documents are in the hands of Secretaries Coke and Dorchester or of Weckherlin’s son Ralph. Included in Add. 72426 ff. 80, 108, are autograph letters of Charles I and Marie de Medici, 1629, while Add. 72429 comprises outsize and undated documents. See also Add. Charters 76963-76965.
