This volume contains copies of Political and Secret Letters, from the Government of India’s Foreign Department to the Secretary of State for India, mostly dating from January to March 1882, and including Political Letter Numbers 1 to 33 and Secret Letter Numbers 1 to 27, with an index.
The Despatches usually consist of a covering letter followed by enclosures (mostly copies of correspondence). Some of the Despatches include an abstract of contents after the covering letter, and there is more than one copy of most of the Despatches. Some Despatches are preceded by an India Office minute paper.
The Despatches are numbered and dated, and are usually also stamped with the date they were received.
The volume includes:
