- Letters sent to family members from Edward Candler whilst in India and on expeditionary force in Tibet. The three telegrams were sent by his schoolfriend, Henry Burkill, to inform family that Candler had lost his left hand but was recovering well. There is one shorthand letter which Candler dictated (and typed attempted translation). The transcript of all the letters also contains a 'Who's Who' and 'Place Guide' for people and places in the letters.
