Large folio album measuring 565 mm x 460 mm, titled in gilt on front cover: Straits Settlements Java Cochin China and America. The volume contains 154 albumen prints purchased from commercial studios and mounted recto only on the album pages, with neat handwritten captions accompanying most of the photographs. Also noted are the dates on which specific locations were visited by the Lucas brothers. This volume covers their travels from January-October 1879, although the photographs purchased by them to illustrate their journey date back in some cases to the 1860s.

Provenance. The Lucas Collection (Photo 1224/1-7, Photo 1225/1-7) was purchased at auction by John Hillelson at the sale of the contents of Broomhall Manor House, Warnham, near Horsham (the family home of Captain C. E. Lucas), 8-9 November 1967. The six volumes of Photo 1224/1-6 were lot 855 (£14), the seven volumes of Photo 1225/1-7 were lot 857 (£16).
