Copies of letters from Lord Aberdeen and Lord Granville, made by Charles Canning. Consists of individual copies of letters from Lord Granville dated 24 Feb 1858, and 1 Apr 1858, as well as copies of an undated letter from Lord Aberdeen (due to fire damage), letter from Granville dated 2 Mar 1858, and letter from Canning to Lord Ellenborough dated 6 Apr 1858, in same document. Includes discussion of the possibility of Canning resigning as Governor General due to the fall of the Palmerston Government and the change to the Derby administration.
Also envelope, postmarked 13 May 1960, and annotated by Michael Maclagan 'group of copies of letters from Lds. Aberdeen & Granville about resignation on change of Govt. in 1858: also letter to Lord Ellenborough not in bound volume to P[resident of the] B[oard of] Control. All damaged by fire ? in Ly. Cg's tent'.
