Arctic Expedition: Volume two

Second volume of the journal kept by Markham during the British Arctic Expedition 1875-76, as Captain of HMS Alert and second-in-command under Sir George Nares on the Discovery.
The volume opens with Markham's sledging journals for 25 September to 14 October 1875, 3 April to 2 June 1876 (the 'Spring Campaign'), and 2 June to 13 June 1876, before concluding with Volume 4 of his ship's journal, 25 July to 1 November 1876, documenting the voyage homewards.
The volume contains several watercolours and a pen and ink sketch, bound, tipped or glued into the volume. These are listed below, with titles taken from Markham's own annotations unless otherwise stated.
