خرده اوستا
Khordeh Avesta (Little Avesta)
خرده اوستا Khordeh Avesta (Little Avesta) - Scope & Content:
- This manuscript contains several prayers. The script is Persian and the languages are Avestan, Pazand and Persian. The residue of smoke and other traces indicate that this book was used at ritual ceremonies; however, compared to other manuscripts of this kind, both the size of the paper and the script are very small. This book consists of the following prayers: Mihr va Gāh-i Hāvan (Mihr and the time of Hāvan (from dawn until midday)); Yek Māh Niyāyiš (One Prayer for the Moon); Avestāy-i Ormazd Yašt (the Avesta of Ormazd Yašt); Yek Soruš Yašt (One Soruš Yašt); Soruš Yašt-i Ādoxt (Soruš Yašt of [H]ādokht); Varahrām Yašt (Yašt of Varahram); Soruš Yašt-i Sar-i Šab (Soruš Yašt for early night / evening); Patet-i Morde Goftan (to repent on behalf of the dead). According to the colophon, this manuscript first belonged to Mehrban Bahram Bamas. Either during the life of this person or after his death, this manuscript was bequeathed to an unknown organisation (part of the colophon has been crossed out).
