خرده اوستا
Khordeh Avesta (Little Avesta)
خرده اوستا Khordeh Avesta (Little Avesta) - Scope & Content:
- The scroll contains several prayers. Since there is no sign of using this manuscript at ceremonies, it can be inferred that the scroll was indeed a talisman which was believed to bring luck to the owner and repelled the devil. The script is Persian. The languages used are Avestan, Pazand and Persian. The entire text is in black ink, with no decorative designs. It contains the following prayers Varahrām Yašt (Yasht of Varahram); Sad-o Yek Nām-i Xodāvand (God's 101 names); Setāyeš-i Xodā (to Praise God); Avestāy-i Bātel Šodan-i Sehrhā (the Avesta for breaking spells); Do'āy-i Češm-Zaxm (the Prayer to avoid the evil eye); Jahat-i Raf'e Bimāri (in order to cure sickness); Hājat Xāstan (to express needs); Jahat-i Tavāngari va Imani (in order to be prosperous and safe); Āyaft-i Zartošt (Zoroaster's Desire); Tan-dorosti-e Bon (Well-being of the soul); Kalamey-i Din (the word of the faith).
