Correspondence book of the Lima Asylum 1893
- Scope & Content:
-
In 1893, the communications on the functions and services of the hospice registered the following information: the submission of the annual budget and monthly expenditures, the monthly schedule of stays of pensioner patients, the monthly reports on the movement of patients and the tables of medical statistics. Admission, medical leave and death of pensioner patients are reported. The inspector requests that the pension contracts be signed by the proxies on the welfare premises at the time of issuing the order for the admission of the patient. It is reported that the institutions do not pay the pensions of the patients referred to the insane asylum. Despite the overcrowding of the insane asylum, the admission of a patient who cannot be cared for at home is allowed. The special distinction that a pensioner patient receives in terms of food, hygiene and clothing is described. A request is made for the records of the convicts assisted in the insane asylum for a medico-legal study to be carried out. Permission is requested to place a bust of the doctor José Casimiro Ulloa in the electricity cabinet. Doctor Manuel Antonio Muñiz requests two months' leave to travel to the United States. In view of the deplorable material conditions of the insane asylum, the medical corps is asked to draw up a report on the conditions that a modern, scientific establishment should have. The inspectors for this year were: Carlos Ferreyros, Manuel Moscoso Melgar, Ramon Ribeyro and Manuel Moscoso Melgar. The financial year began in January 1893 and ended in November 1893.
