In 1894, the communications on the functions and services of the hospice registered the following information: the dispatch of the annual budget and monthly expenses, the monthly schedule of stays of pensioner patients, the monthly reports on the movement of patients and the medical statistics tables. The inspector requests the payment of the debts of the pensioner patients' and convicts' stays. In order to improve the economic situation of the hospice, a request was made to increase the income of the pensioner patients from the Callao charity. An extensive list of foreigners assisted free of charge in the hospice was drawn up. A list is sent to the Spanish consul of Spain of his alienated compatriots cared for in the asylum. The admission, transfer and death of patients is reported. A request is made to transfer two bath tubs from the Hospital Dos de Mayo to the insane asylum. It is warned that patients will not be allowed to be admitted to the insane asylum if they do not fill in all the details on the new printed form. Due to the high position of his proxy, a patient is admitted without the corresponding medical certificate. It is requested to increase the number of guards in the men's department in order to avoid aggressive attacks by the patients. It is suggested that medicines be purchased from abroad, especially from France, because of their lower price and quality. The Mother Superior requests the purchase of bales of cloth for the winter clothing of the patients. The complete report of the inspector for the year 1893 is enclosed. Moscoso Melgar is appointed as the new inspector. A project is drawn up which provides for the separation of patients into four groups and the centralisation of the medical direction in one of the titular doctors. According to the new regulations, the wardens' service is placed under the control of the medical corps. The School of Engineers is asked to draw up a plan of the asylum's interior and a plan for a new layout in accordance with the prescriptions of science. The purchase of medicine and syringes for injections according to the Brown Sequard method is requested. New measures are requested to be implemented as the number of patients assisted cannot be reduced to 250. For this year, Manuel Moscoso Melgar signs as inspector. The financial year began in December 1893 and ended in November 1894.
