In 1900, the communications on the functions and services of the hospice recorded the following information: the sending of monthly budgets and regular expenses, monthly reports on the movement of patients and tables of medical statistics. The number and income collected from pensioner patients who are treated on a monthly basis is indicated. Admission, medical leave, absconding, death due to various ailments and departure of discharged patients and at the request of their proxies are reported. The medicines that the sister apothecary requests each month for the asylum are recorded, as well as the expenses for the consumption of medicines for the last ten years (1890-1899). The inspector reports that he does not have the power to grant concessions to reduce the amount of payment of pensions; he asks the trustee of the Convent of the Trinity to send the bond contracts and medical certificates of a sick nun confined in the asylum; in the event of the death of a guarantor or proxy of a pensioner patient, he recommends that the relatives appoint another proxy, otherwise the patient will be placed on free status; he requests payment for the purchase and transfer of the new double steel shaft purchased for the electrostatic machine of the electrical cabinet. He informs that the commission in charge of the works for the construction of the new asylum has not delivered the plans of the project. He asks the supreme government to withdraw the taxes on the purchase of tobacco for the internal consumption of the patients; he warns that for the admission of patientss who have been auctioned off or tried in the asylum it is necessary to send the medical certificates; he also points out that the inspectorate is not responsible for the possible escape of the patients. The supreme government and the Society of Charity undertake to make a financial contribution to the expansion of the men's department. Inspector Domingo Olavegoya requests a three-month leave of absence and is appointed to the financial board in charge of the construction of the new insane asylum. Dr. David Matto is appointed to the special commission to study the scientific means of combating tuberculosis. A medical report is made on the mental state of a patient on trial for bigamy. A request is made for the extension of the men's department, the acquisition of a surgical armoury and the remodelling of the dormitory floor. Dr. Eduardo Sánchez Concha is transferred to the Hospital de Santa Ana, leaving the position of head doctor in the women's department vacant; the inspector requests that the position be eliminated in order to economise on expenses. For this year Domingo Olavegoya and Eduardo Dyer sign as inspectors. The financial year began in December 1899 and ended in November 1900.
