In 1903, the communications on the functions and services of the hospice registered the following information: the sending of monthly budgets and ordinary expenses, monthly reports on the movement of patients and medical statistics tables. The number and income collected from pensioner patients who are treated on a monthly basis is indicated. The monthly payroll of the penitentiary patients, sentenced convicts and tried pensioners is recorded. Admission, medical leave, absconding, death due to various causes and departure of discharged patients and at the request of their proxies are reported. The inspector points out that medical certificates must be demanded of those sent to the hospice and warns that the authorities of the institution will not be held responsible for the escape of these patients; he informs that it is an unavoidable requirement for the guardian of a sick person to present a guarantor to guarantee the payment of the pensions; In the event of the death of a patient's guardian, he asked to locate the relatives in order to arrange for a replacement to take over the pensions; he requested authorisation to purchase tocuyo, bramante and cotin-type fabrics; he agreed to the accountant's request to reduce the asylum's monthly budget by 25 soles (national coin of Peru) in order to be able to buy tobacco; he urgently requested the roofing of two alleys and the remodelling of the floor of the bedrooms in the women's department. It is also proposed to increase the salary of the book-keeper and to limit the number of requests for proof of admission and departure of patients, as this is an unpaid job. It is proposed that two guards be hired to watch over the night service of the insane asylum. Note on the expenses incurred for the renovation of the floor of the cells for patients classified as "dirty". Note on the murder of a patient at the hands of his cellmate and a request is made to Dr. Matto to carry out an autopsy. Mother Superior requests the purchase of 600 kilograms of duty free tobacco. Dr. Matto and Dr. Mayorga request an additional item for the purchase of tools and equipment for the electrotherapeutic cabinet, especially the X-ray machine. The report and statistical tables drawn up by Dr. Leónidas Avendaño, head of the electrical cabinet, are sent. For this year Juan C. Bendezú signs as inspector.
