In 1904, the communications on the functions and services of the hospice registered the following information: the sending of the monthly budgets and ordinary expenses, the monthly reports on the movement of patients and the medical statistics tables. The number and income collected from pensioner patients who are treated on a monthly basis is indicated. The monthly payroll of the penitentiary patients, sentenced convicts and tried pensioners is recorded. Admission, medical leave, absconding, deaths and departures of discharged patients and at the request of their proxies are reported. The inspector asks for an assessment of the hospice infrastructure after a strong earthquake. The transfer of the electrotherapeutic cabinet to the hospital of Santa Ana is requested. Note on the account of the roofing and paving works in the women's department. An estimate is requested to be drawn up for the covering of the ditch inside the asylum, as it serves as a means of access for rodents. The inspector points out that it is not correct for the hospice doctors to make the admission certificates for the patients, when it is they who should corroborate the diagnosis made by other external doctors; he informs that the doctors should make the daily medical visits from 8 to 9 a.m.; he maintains that it is not convenient to build six isolation cells for the patients with behavioural problems, as the inauguration of the new general hospice is only a short time away. The Mother Superior proposes to use the budget given for the purchase of clothing to buy 167 blankets from the Santa Catalina factory. In addition, she requests the purchase of 600 kilograms of duty free tobacco. Doctors Matto and Mayorga indicate to the inspector to accept the medical electrical appliances that Reiniger Gebbert and Schall propose to sell for the electrotherapeutic cabinet. Dr. David Matto requests a 4-month leave of absence to travel abroad. Dr. Pardo Figueroa argues that a patient requested by her family should not be allowed to leave because she shows no improvement in her health. For this year Juan C. Bendezú, Enrique Prevost and Luis García y Sacio sign as inspectors. The financial year began in December 1903 and ended in November 1904.
