A collection of slides showing telescopes, observatories, astronomers, and astronomical objects. Several images illustrate the history of Harvard College Observatory, showing scenes from the USA, Peru, and Chile. Two images show Harlow Shapley and Solon Bailey. Other well-known observatories in the USA and Canada are illustrated. In South Africa, in addition to the Boyden telescopes, there are slides of the Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope, the Lamont-Hussey Observatory in Bloemfontein, the Radcliffe Observatory in Pretoria, and a group photograph outside the entrance to the dome of the 26.5-inch telescope in Johannesburg. A small selection depicting celestial objects is included.
