- Scope & Content:
- Contains two groups of letters. The first, containing documents dated between 1843 and 1845, includes Fund resolutions and letters from Sir James Clark relating to Clark's successful attempt to obtain for the society the right to add 'Royal' to its title. The papers in the second group, dated between 5 Dec 1902 and 23 Feb 1903, detail a challenge to the Fund's use of 'Royal' in its name made after the accession of Edward VII. They consist of correspondence between civil servants (principally Henry Cunynghame) and Fund officials (principally Arthur Llewelyn Roberts and Sir Theodore Martin).
