Contains an application for the post of Collector of the Literary Fund from Henry Syer Bristowe, supported by F. Massey, John Dalton and Charles Edward Bissett, with John Syer Bristowe and J. Putley standing surety. The file also contains a note by Octavian Blewitt on Bristowe’s appointment, correspondence relating to his bond from William Tooke and four letters from Bristowe’s son, George Bristowe, on his father’s failing health in the 1860s, which led to his resignation. Includes a handwritten contents list by Nigel Cross.
