Papyrus sheet, consisting of two joining fragments which were formerly inventoried separately: Papyrus 998 is the left-hand side fragment, and Papyrus 999 is the right-hand side fragment. The sheet is broken off at the bottom, lacks part of the left half at the bottom (front), and displays minor surface damage. Writing runs along the fibres on both sides, the back having a one-line docket. The front bears 18 lines; lines 8-17 lack the beginnings; of line 18 only few traces remain. Upper and side margins are minimal, with the left margin surviving up to line 7. On the back, only the beginning of the line remains. The papyrus sheet is housed in a glass case.
