Manuscripts of Bulstrode Whitelocke, parliamentarian and ambassador to Sweden, and his father, Sir James Whitelocke, judge (d.1632); 1609-1667. Autograph. Principal manuscript sources relating to Bulstrode Whitelocke and his father are listed with notes in the following:

The manuscripts remained with descendents of Carleton Whitelocke (d.1705), son of Bulstrode Whitelocke by his third wife, until 1946: see Spalding, The Improbable Puritan, pp. 254-261. Purchased from Dr Raymond G. Cross of Dublin, through the offices of Miss Ruth Spalding, 12 Feb. 1966.
