See Add ΜS 5112, f 235v. + ἐκοιμίθη ὁ δοῦλος τοῦ Θεοῦ Γρηγόριος μοναχὸς ὁ καὶ τὸ ἅγιον τοῦτο Εὐαγγέλιον γράψας μηνὶ Ἰαννουαρίῳ δα΄ νζ΄ ἔτους; f 241r: ἐκοιμίθη ὁ δοῦλος τοῦ Θεοῦ Γρηγόριος μοναχὸς ὁ Συγκελιώτης τοῦ γεροντίου, ὁ καὶ γράψας τὴν βἰβλον ταύτην, μηνὶ Ἰαννουαρίῳ ἔτους ςχϟζ΄, ἰνδ. ζ΄ ἡμέρᾳ δ΄.
Decoration: Canon tables, dating from the 6th or 7th century, inserted as ff 10-11 of Add MS 5111. Evangelist portraits, dating from the third quarter of the 12th century, inserted as f 12 of Add MS 5111 and ff 3 and 134 of Add MS 5112. These leaves are now housed in a separate volume.

Add MS 5111 inscribed with a Greek inscription (f. 1r), (cf. the inscription in, for example, Burney MS 44; both appear to relate to the Athonite monastery of Simonopetra).
Antonios Triphilis: his red seal impression, dated 1713 (upper right hand corner of Add MS 5111, f. i recto). Presumably, he had an access to and been a bookseller of MSS from Mount Athos, that came to England with him in the first half of the 18th century (see Easterling 2000, pp. 114-116).
Owned, and perhaps divided into two volumes by Anthony Askew (1722-1774).
Purchased at Askew's sale, 15 March 1785, lot 622.
