folio, decorative cover in black cloth with title stamped in gilt, gilt spine and corners, measuring 385 x 300 mm; 2 pp contents list, 40 pp. introduction by Putnam Weale (pseudonym of Bertram Lenox Simpson), followed by 66 photogravure prints mounted one to a page (recto only), with descriptive letterpress by Samuel Couling on facing pages. Inscribed on front free endpaper: 'To Hester from Leo and Mona. Tsingtau, September 1932.'This is the third edition, published in February 1922. The first, limited edition was published in November 1920 and a second in January 1921.
