Whilst the internal organisation of the files has been preserved, the series and sub-series within each sub-fonds (Oral History Society Papers and Oral History Journal Papers) has been created by the archivist to aid user-orientation and navigation of the files. These series/ sub-series were not taken from OHS filing systems but were guided by the contents of the materials within the archive. The first series grouping (Add MS 89318/1 Foundation and Early Papers) was imposed during the archival cataloguing process, to distinguish files containing documents from before the formation of the Oral History Society (but linked to the lead up to this).
There are duplicates of documents within the archive, where they have been kept by different Committee Members. Duplicates of documents appearing closely together within files have been removed - others remain where they occur across different files.
