Papyrus roll, housed in two glass cases named Papyrus 1168(1) and Papyrus 1168(2); with writing on both sides; sheet-joins are visible.

Papyrus 1168(1): Complete, damaged by holes throughout, but well preserved as to the rest. The fibre orientation of the first sheet (front-side), which displays vertical fibres, is opposite to that of the following sheets forming the roll. On the front there is one short column of 5 lines, written across the fibres on the first sheet; a broad column of 17 lines written along the fibres follows. Margins are extant. On the back is one letter and few dark spots in places.

Papyrus 1168(2): Complete and well preserved, with very few small worm holes; the second sheet (front-side) is shorter than the first; written on both sides, along the fibres on the front and across them on the back. The front bears two columns, complete; all margins are extant. The back bears one column, with dark spots in places.

Writing runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank. 6 columns are preserved, the first of which is fragmentary. Portions of papyrus roll, housed in three glass frames named Papyrus 1178(1), Papyrus 1178(2), and Papyrus 1178(3); damaged by holes throughout and written on one side, the back being blank. Papyrus 1178(2) and Papyrus 1178(3) are mounted on cardboard; Papyrus 1178(1) preserves three seals on the back. Writing runs along the height of the roll.

Papyrus 1178(1): Sheet glued at the beginning of the roll; 7 lines written along the fibres, abraded in places; blank space between lines 1 and 2; margins are extant. On the back at the bottom there are three seals. Sheet-joins running along the width are visible.

Papyrus 1178(2): Light-coloured by patches, with minor abrasion and holes especially in the left half; 42 lines written across the fibres, few of which lack the beginnings. A strip of horizontal fibres was glued onto the surface in the upper half. Three stains are visible at the top.

Papyrus 1172(3): With darker patches; mutilated in the left-hand side and at the bottom, with detached scrap; with surface damage in places. 50 lines written across the fibres, some of which lack the beginnings.

Portion of the same papyrus roll as P.Oxy. XXXVII 2808, preserving iambic trimeters from a comedy attributed to Aristophanes. Identification of the comedy (Thesmophoriazusae II? Lemniae?) has been debated and remains uncertain.

Three fragments of varying size from a papyrus roll, three additional fragments of which are preserved in the Sackler Library, Oxford, and have been published as P.Oxy. XXXVII 2808. The writing is one side along the fibres, and the back is blank. The largest fragment (A) preserves portions of two columns, the second of which is well preserved; the other two fragments (B-C) contain portions of few lines. The column height is c. 140 mm, the width c. 120 mm; there are 20 lines to the column; the height of the roll was c. 230 mm. Upper and lower margins survive to 44 and 46 mm respectively. The intercolumn varies between 9 and 35 mm. The number in red refers to the publication in P.Oxy. II. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.
