Accounts from the Archive of Basilius, Pagarch of Aphrodito (P.Lond. IV 1415, TM 39748)
Scope & Content:
On the front, account of expenses listing items, their quantities and corresponding prices. The articles include sheep, birds, oil, wine, vinegar. On the back, there is a short account recording the amounts of wheat due for the grain tax of the village of Aphrodito for the fifth indiction.

Papyrus sheet, broken off to the left, otherwise well preserved; written on both sides along the fibres. On the front, there are 12 lines; upper, lower and right margins are extant; on the back, there are 5 lines, with ample blank space at the bottom. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Fragment of an order of the governor Qurrah ben Sharik to the inhabitants of Pente Pediades, in Aphrodito, to make nails out of the unrefined iron they receive from their pagarch Basilius. The rest of the order is preserved in a fragment now at Heidelberg, inventoried as PSR 15 a.
