Long and narrow light-brown papyrus sheet, complete but damaged by holes along the vertical folds; bearing writing on both sides. On the front, there are 29 lines written along the fibres; margins are minimal. On the back, there are two lines written along the fibres. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Two fragments of different size not belonging together, mounted on cardboard in one glass case.

Top fragment (Papyrus 1638a): Rectangular fragment of a papyrus sheet, probably folded from right to left; imperfect at top, bottom, and left side; written along the fibres on one side only.

Bottom fragment (Papyrus 1638b): Rectangular sheet of papyrus folded from the bottom upwards and written on one side along the fibres; successive marks made by the seal are visible on the upper part. Blank space separates the subscription from the receipt.

Receipt acknowledging the money payment made in the name of Silvanus through the monastery of Ama Anna on account of the annona and canonica, issued by Phoebammon, a tax-official (diastoleus) through the tax-collector (apaitetes) Petrus.

Papyrus sheet, darker in the right half, with few holes and surface damage in places; written on one side along the fibres, with the back blank. On the front, there are 6 lines, which occupy the upper half of the sheet. Margins are extant, with only the upper right corner being mutilated. The blank space at the bottom measures 100 mm. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Aurelius Apollos and Aurelius Abraam acknowledge a debt, presumably in respect of taxes, to be collected by them; with subscriptions of the parties, and of Theodosius, who acted as a witness and wrote the body of the document as well. The detached fragments come from other documents.

Papyrus sheet, dark-brown, lacking the upper left corner and with a vertical break; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. On the front, there are 25 lines, with lines 1-12 lacking two-thirds at the beginning. Margins survive. The two detached narrow strips at the top do not belong to the same papyrus; they bear writing on one side only, and preserve a few letters. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Aurelius Besarion acknowledges a loan of forty artabas of wheat incurred by his father and by his uncle, and of six additional artabas, for a total of forty-six artabas. The name of the creditor is mutilated; he was an oil-manufacturer, son of Musaeus. With endorsement on the back.

Fragmentary papyrus sheet, darker by patches in the left-hand portion, abraded throughout, with few insect holes in places; broken off at the bottom, but complete at the top and sides. Writing runs on both sides along the fibres; the front bears 15 lines; traces of another line at the bottom are visible. Upper and side margins are extant and minimal. A sheet-join runs from top to bottom at c. 55 mm from the right edge. On the back, there is one line at the top of the sheet. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.
