Fragments extracted from mummy cartonnage containing a contract, with traces of the painted decoration on the back. The largest fragment contains the date with the list of eponymous priests; the other fragments are unpublished.

Dark-brown papyrus sheet reused as mummy cartonnage, broken off at the bottom, with plaster residue and surface damage; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. There are 21 lines, some of which badly damaged. Upper and side margins are minimal. The modern annotation in red refers to the publication in P.Hib. I. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Fragments of varying size from a papyrus roll, originally forming distinct documents which were then pasted together to provide space for a copy of Pindar’s Paeans on the back. The papyrus was also trimmed off at its lower edge and cut into sections then pasted together; strengthening strips were added on the recto. The fragments are now in 9 frames, named Papyrus 1842 (1)- Papyrus 1842 (8), with frame 6 consisting of two separate glass cases named Papyrus 1842(6 Sheet 1) and Papyrus 1842 (6 Sheet 2). Some fragments remain unplaced.

On the front, there are 2 columns of 15 and 6 lines respectively, running along the fibre;, the first column lacks its left-hand half. A sheet-join runs vertically down the centre. Thirteen papyrus fragments, only some of which belong together, housed in the same glass frame.

Upper left papyrus (A): Fragment of a papyrus, with surface damage throughout; written on one side; portions of 13 lines running along the fibres, barely readable in places.

Upper right papyrus (B): Upper part of a leaf from a papyrus codex, with surface damage; from the same codex as two other fragments, now in Manchester, John Rylands Library (Gr. 2), and New York, Pierpont Morgan Library (Amherst Gr. 4). The fragment is written on both sides, along and across the fibres, and preserves portions of 10 and 11 lines, illegible in places. The upper margin measures 40 mm, the side margin measures 70 mm.

Two fragments in the centre on the left (C): Two small papyrus fragments, broken off on all sides; written on both sides across the fibres.

Right fragment in the centre (D): Papyrus fragment of light colour from a codex, broken off on all sides; written on both sides, along and across the fibres.

All other fragments (E): Eight medium-to-dark brown fragments of varying size from a papyrus codex; broken off on all sides; writing on both sides, along and across the fibres.
